Zero Landfill

Success at DaimlerChrysler of Newark – have helped the plant achieve a Zero Landfill Initiative for 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006

• Of the 4,000 tons of annual waste, we identified 39 categories and 237 specific waste streams from assembly operations
• Extensive recycling of cardboard, wood, metal and plastic
• 600 tons of waste water filter cake used for road patching material
• 3,000 tons sent to local Waste-to-Energy Partner where the NAP waste:
  • Generates enough electricity for 1,835 houses per year
  • Saves 25,486 barrels of oil per year
